Where Is Your Faith? Mark 4: 35-41

We’ll take a break this morning from our James series to do a special message for Father’s Day.  While we will make special application to fathers, we will still be speaking about faith in everyone’s life.  Our text for this message is Mark 4:35-41.  Here Jesus gives the disciples a test on the waters of the Sea of Galilee to see how they will handle a fierce storm.  They struggle when their backs are up against the wall and they panic in fear.  Now, no doubt they were in a desperate situation and had run out of ideas and options to keep their boat from sinking.  So they panic in fear and cry out to the Lord Jesus: “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing? We’re going to sink and drown!  According to Matthew’s account in chapter 8; Jesus rebukes them first (before calming the storm), actually rebukes their fear: “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”  He then calms the winds and the sea.  And the disciples are shocked at His power.  Should they be?  Haven’t they seen his power already?  Although it is early in Jesus’ ministry; I think they get the point and the lesson.  So what is the lesson?
