An Imperfect, Blessed Mother: I Kings 1: 15-21, 28-37

This Sunday, being Mother’s Day, we will break away from our James series to do a message in honor of our mothers. Our text will be 1 Kings 1:15-21; 28-37.  Here we have a story that includes a mother who is faithful; she is a leader and used of the Lord to work on behalf of her son, Solomon.  There are some interesting details as to how she has trained her son to be ready to be a great king of Israel.  Who is this great mother?  Who was instrumental in helping her son be one of the greatest, wisest kings of all time?  Bathsheba! You see Bathsheba, David’s wife, is not one who you’d expect to consider being a great, godly mother.  But she was, and I believe we can learn from these passages in 1 Kings 5, things she was faithful in teaching her son.
